Bear Head Lake State Park 2005

For our one year wedding anniversary trip, we decided to head up to northern Minnesota for camping.  Lisa found a campground call Bear Head Lake State park and she thought it would be a good idea to take the canoe up and check out the lake.  She has been wanting to get back to the lake and for 2010's trip, we are probably going back.

The first series of pictures above is of an early morning canoe trip we took out on the lake.  Believe it or not, for most of the trip, Lisa was in charge of the camera.  Hence, why I show up in a few of the pictures.  The last two pictures are of two different canoe in campsites.  I always thought it would be neat to try one of these out, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get the Scamp to float.

The pictures above are from Silver Bay Marina (I believe that was the name, but I could be wrong. )  It's pretty impressive to see the breakwater surrounding the marina, and realize what a feat of construction it was to place the many large boulders around it.  In the last picture, you can see the ore processing facility of Silver bay but up the shore.
