Memorial Day 2011

Life around camp is always a bit interesting.  Especially when you play a friendly game of horse shoes, cook over an open fire, or just try to find a little space to set up camp.

This year was a bit more interesting to canoe down the Shell Rock River.  The rapids looked a little rougher than usual, even though the water was much higher.  And there were a couple of spots where we had to deal with cattle lines.  They were just above the water so we couldn't go over them, and going under proved to be an interesting challenge.

I always like to do a little hiking to areas that most people don't normally visit.  The field that we tried to hike through, shown in the last three photos, was actually a little marsh.  We got about halfway across before we ran into the deeper muck and water, and had to turn back around.
