We returned to Merrick State Park on June 26, 2015.  It was our first time back in over a year.  This was mostly due to the fact that the part of the campground we like to stay in was heavily flooded for most of the camping season.  Saturday night we decided to take advantage of the beautiful evening and have a campfire.  I have not taken any campfire photos for a while and it seemed like a good opportunity.  I played around with various settings and came up with the photos shown above.

This was the first time that we rented a kayak at Merrick and it was a wonderful trip.  We rented the two person kayak for three hours and the canoe/kayak course did fill up most of the time.  It was interesting with all of the growth so close to the surface.  Usually there is a small path that you can follow, but at times it did seem a little difficult to see what way you were supposed to go.

Life on the Mississippi River

September 11th

On our third trip back to Merrick State Park in Wisconsin we actually had a boat at our disposal to go out and explore the river again.  Beautiful afternoon which provided us with the opportunity to explore the shore a bit, as well as giving us an opportunity to do a little river watching.  We got a close up look at a river boat, saw some campers enjoying the river from a sandbar, and even had a good few shots of Fountain City, Wisconsin from the river.  If you have not had a chance to get out and explore the Mississippi River, or even bodies of water in and around your hometown, I would highly recommend it.  It is worth the time.
