It was very unusual to visit St. Feriole Island while there was snow on the ground, but this was due to a late season snow storm that had moved through the area a few days prior.  While the river was down considerably from the last time we were here on the Fourth of July, we noticed that the relatively mild winter had taken its toll on the water level.  It was even below normal levels for this time of the year.

I was impressed that even the cool air and snow did not stop the locals from breaking out the fishing boats and gears, and taking to the water.  There were far more people on and around the river than I anticipated.
