Tettegouche 2007

We tried to camp along the North Shore back in 2003, but we couldn't find an open site  in any of the campgrounds.  That was before we got smart and started reserving sites.  This time we decided to reserve a spot at Tettegouche State Park.

The first series of photos is our first hike along the shoreline.  It was a fairly busy day as there were kayakers in the water and rock climbers on the cliffs.   In the picture with Lisa standing on the rock looking at the formation just a few feet away, it turned out we were both contemplating jumping out to it, but we realized it could have been difficult to get back.

There is also a couple of falls that you can hike to in the park.  The one above, Little Falls I believe is the name, is listed as being about three quarters of a mile from the main road.

High Falls, the one shown above, is about a half mile from camp.  A pleasant little hike that doesn't have too many hills before you reach it.  I remember that we could hear one of the falls from our campsite, but I can't remember if it was High Falls, or the Little Falls.

The campsite we had was a really nice site.  It had a little bit of an overlook into the woods below, the campsites on either side weren't too close, and the bathroom was only a short hike up the hill.  Believe it or not, I enjoyed taking the hike in the night.  There was a place along the trail that opened to a small field, and seeing the moon shine above was pretty neat.  I'm not sure why Lisa is giving me that look, but it might have been something to do with the comment I made about her using a laptop while we were camping.
