Tettegouche State Park 2008

This was our second trip to Tetttegouche State Park in Minnesota.  The campsites are good sized and semi-private.  There are no electrical sites, but  with the solar panels for the camper, we are pretty self-sufficient.  The walk-in campsites are really nice.  They are on the lake and not too terribly far from the parking lot.  We have thought about reserving one of them sometime, but this year we were enjoying the camper.

The first set of photos above are of the outlet of the Baptism River.  An interesting note, the sandbar that Lisa is standing on wasn't there a year ago when we were last here.  The power of water is still amazing.

The campground has quite a network of hiking trails.  One of them that we explored this trip was near the campground and lead to what is known as the High Falls.  The photos above are of our hike to the falls.  Of course, I loved the swinging bridge with the mesh grate deck.

We also took a trail that lead around the backside of the hill we were camping on.  I loved the part of the trail where the trees created a tunnel effect.  Of course, I also found that I could still climb quite well.  I was looking at the hill just above our campsite and we decided to see if we could get to the top.  We did and guess what we saw?  More trees.

There is also another hiking trail that runs along the shore of the lake.  It's not as hard as some of the other trails, but you still get a good workout.  There is also a place along the trail that is popular with rock climbers.  We didn't see anyone climbing this time, but the last time we were here, there were a couple different groups climbing at a few different heights.

And, of course, the campsite.  I really liked this site.  It was along the high side of the camping loop and it seemed you could hear more of the storms when they rolled through.  And yes, on this trip they rolled through.  The number one reason I enjoy having a hard roof over my head is revealed in the interior picture of the camper.  It was raining very hard outside and we barely noticed a thing inside.  Ice cream any one?
