West Idlewild 2011

This was our third trip back to West Idlewild county park in Floyd, Iowa.  It a nice little park along the banks of the Cedar River.  We were a little hesitant to return since our previous trip had been shortened due to "overly friendly" fellow campers who apparently tend to mildly ignore park rules and volume when it comes to outside voices.  I am glad we returned because it turned out to be a very wonderful weekend with green grass, budding trees and critters galore.

The Cedar River was up quite a bit this year and seemed to be flowing fairly fast.  It was interesting watching the ducks and geese crossing the river.  I was a bit concerned that the ground might be a bit soft, but it turned out not to be a problem.  One thing nice about being one of the first campers of the year is there is plenty of dead wood laying around that needed to be "cleaned" up.
